In this class we will learn the perfect shortcut to make windows. We'll design and get started on a wall hanging of Attic Windows with delights inside. Participants can bring to class the "Picture Perfect" fabric, you own hand dyed fabrics, redwork, lace, keepsakes (been wondering what to do with those small heirlooms made by your Aunt Edna?) and we'll frame them up with the same or different sized windows.
We will be designing and making wall hangings that will be approximately 40" x 40".
Materials List and Cutting Instructions
Fabric
- 2 yards of a theme fabric or equivalent in other "window" fabric. This amount yardage will allow you to "fussy cut" pieces to make windows the way you want. If you are using had dyed fabric or fabric as a background for other items (lace, keepsakes, etc) you can get by with 1 yards.
- The window ledges require approximately yards each of 2 fabrics. Contrast is the key here. If window fabric changes in color then you may want alternative fabrics for different windows. Brining some different options would be helpful for boht your design process and for class discussion.
- For the window sash you will want 1 yards of one fabric.
- For borders, 1 to 2 fabrics approximately 1 yards total.
